Challenging situations for the first person

Knowledge of the legal issues relevant to the employment relationship gives the pre-employee the tools and confidence to deal with challenging situations and, in the best case, prevent them from arising. However, best practice is not always found directly in the law, so the training will cover not only the law but also the requirements for good chaperone work from a management perspective.

During the day, a variety of practical and versatile situations that arise in the everyday life of a manager will be discussed. By participating in the training, you will also have access to model documents that are useful in your work as a supervisor.

The training will provide answers to questions such as:

  • What are the practical ways in which a front-line worker can influence the content of his or her right to manage his or her work?
  • How should an employment contract be drafted?
  • How can we prevent practices from becoming a binding condition of employment?
  • What is the importance of interaction in challenging situations?
  • How should targets be set? How should feedback be given?
  • What should I do if the employee does not follow the instructions given or does not achieve the objectives set for him/her?
  • What kind of documentation should be kept of the management discussions?
  • How to respond to substance misuse?
  • What should be the process for dealing with harassment and inappropriate behaviour in the workplace?

The training can be delivered remotely or face-to-face.
